The Ram 2500 is a favorite on our forum with recent adventure-ready offerings, including this 2004, a 2010 w/ a custom Phoenix pop top camper, and a 2021 CTD w/ Super Pacific Switchback. With its generous payload, well-equipped interior, 4WD capability, solid axles, and powerful Cummins diesel motor, it’s well-suited to rugged applications and an ideal chassis for a camper or habitation box. In addition, it enjoys access to impressive aftermarket support from the likes of industry leader AEV (American Expedition Vehicles). Publisher Scott Brady states, “The 2500 and 3500s have quietly overtaken the #1 seat in the full-size overland segment,” continuing, “with the aftermarket support of companies like AEV, the Ram has consistently ranked as the most popular big truck for our audience.” If you’d like to better understand how this platform can be upfitted for adventure, then check out inspiring builds from Rebel Outdoors, Juniper Overland, and Epic Adventures Offroad. Cue today’s 2005 Ram 2500 4×4 SLT (267,000 miles), which showcases tasteful modifications and is topped with a North State Overland frame and an Alu-Cab rooftop tent.
From the Seller:
“I bought the truck from a good friend who relocated overseas, and I have known this truck since it was originally purchased. I have a complete maintenance record for the past ~20 years. It is a Colorado truck, which means that it has been based here continuously (although many trips all over the West). I would estimate 90% highway miles. I have renewed batteries, shocks, and tires, and replaced the rear bumper with an aftermarket alternative that matches the one up front. The previous owner had replaced or repaired a number of items in its first 230,000 miles, including ball joints, u-joints, crankshaft sensor, turbo waste gate actuator, brake calipers, pads, rotors, clutch, and related items. They also performed overhauls of the transfer case, front hubs, differentials, water pump, and drive belt and tensioners. I am driving this truck every week. Whether going skiing in the Rockies, mountain biking on the West slope, or canyoneering in Utah. It has never hauled large trailers or been used for plowing or other heavy work.”
