2024 MOTOCROSS DES NATIONS PRE-RACE REPORT: RIDER NUMBERS, TV SCHEDULE & MORE
2024 MOTOCROSS DES NATIONS PRE-RACE REPORT: RIDER NUMBERS, TV SCHEDULE & MORE
For the third time, Motocross Des Nations will be held at Matterley Basin, United Kingdom. Team USA had a few changes with riders leading up to the event but has put together a powerful team that can get the job done. Last year’s winner was Team France, followed by Australia, and Team Italy. The USA finished in eighth last year but the riders are looking to redeem themselves for the 2024 race. The weather is permitting cloudy skies with rain on the forecast, it is unclear if it will hold out through the weekend or not but with some rain comes a new level of strategy for racing. COOPER WEBB JOINS TEAM USA TO RACE 250 AT MXDN
MEET THE TEAM
Aaron Plessinger was one of the original picks to be on Team USA to support in the 2024 MXDN. Aaron had great results throughout the year. In Supercross he was able to grab his first 450 race win, but an injury to his elbow sent him to eleventh overall in the series. As outdoors started Aaron was back on the track from injury and was able to place third overall in the series. Finishing it off for SMX he had another injury in practice at round one but was still able to place fourth overall in the series. Aaron is a true patriot and will do a great job representing the USA win or lose.
Eli was not the first choice when teams were being chosen. He had missed the majority of the outdoor season due to injury and was going to focus on recovery after the SMX rounds. Though he got hurt at the final rounds of Supercross he was still able to pull a fourth overall finish in the series. As he did not race many outdoor nationals he did not have the best record in motocross this year but as for SMX he finished third overall and led many laps throughout the series. Eli has won MXDN on multiple occasions and returns this year just as motivated as ever. It will be good having him back on the team.
Now Cooper Webb will be stepping down to the 250cc machine heading into MXDN which is a good change for the former champion. Cooper Webb had a stellar career in the 250 class here in the States and is looking to bring that same motivation to the UK. Cooper ended up getting injured prior to the last few rounds of Supercross but rode with the injury as he was in contention for the championship. Cooper held the points lead for multiple rounds but the injury kept him from performing to the best of his ability. He missed the majority of the outdoor season only returning for one round where he had another crash that took him out. He had a few mistakes in SMX when he skipped a bit of the track to return to racing and was docked by the AMA. He still was able to finish fifth overall and is motivated heading into MXDN. It will be great to see him riding the 250 again, a bike he has had much success on.
