2024 Outlander Max XT-P

This is my post about my journey that brought me to getting an Outlander Max.

Now this starts way back in the day when all I could afford was a rusted out Polaris Sportsman 500 that I drove from near Flint, MI all the way to Ohio, almost to New York is what it felt like. In short, it was a stupid purchase but the price was right. Also another lesson is don’t buy something in the dark because I didn’t know how badly rusted this thing was until the next day.

How can we fit three people on a four wheeler? You really can’t.. it’s designed for two people though. The back is a dump box but you can flip this little cushion up and turn it into a two seater. Now it wasn’t comfortable for that passenger but my wife and I rode this Polaris sportsman all over the place and had a great time
Feb 2020 my wife got diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) which in short is a blood cancer in her bone marrow where red blood cells get generated. So the next few years was the fight to get her better. Well she lost the ability in her hands and her feet to drive herself on a four wheeler so I ended up purchasing a brand new Can-Am Maverick Trail so I can get her out of the house and I get to still enjoy some trail riding
Our experience with the Can-Am Maverick Trail was good and bad. The good was it was fairly comfortable, plenty of power so much that we could keep up with RZRs and everything else on the trail since it was also a 1000. Also it was a Trail edition so it’s more narrow so you could go to most of the trails. The bad was the mid-engine would get so hot that the seatbelt was impossible to touch after riding for a bit. Another downfall was anytime I went to use it to plow the driveway or go on a ride, the battery was dead… even after changing it. The company I purchased it from, with the extended warranty refused to fix it telling me nothing was wrong. Obviously something was wrong and I spent around $30k on this machine to have it not start when I wanted it to. Not a fan so sold it.
We moved up into a 4 seat Polaris General (used which saved a few thousand). It was a decent ride especially with the ride command and it was nice not having a dead battery every time I wanted to use it.
It was a perfect build and had some good times with it but my wife overheated real easy in the SxS (no real airflow) and even though the engine on a Polaris is in the back, it still gets very hot when you drive all day. Starting to get the idea that any 1000cc is going to create some serious heat. Otherwise I don’t really have anything bad to say about it besides DO NOT get this to be your primary snow plow vehicle because you sit so low you can’t really see anything. It’s a good SxS in my opinion.
