Arksen Has Unveiled The Arksen P110 “Project Ituri”

The Arksen P110 “Project Ituri,” is a meticulously restored and upgraded Land Rover Perentie designed for modern-day adventures. The Australian Perentie Land Rover, produced by JRA Limited under license in the mid-1980s to early 1990s, was developed to meet the stringent needs of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Based on the Land Rover 110 platform, it is known for its durability and ability to handle Australia’s harsh terrains. The Perentie was available in 4×4 and 6×6 configurations, serving various roles, including troop transport, ambulance, and reconnaissance.

Key features include a reinforced chassis and suspension and the reliable Isuzu 4BD1 3.9-liter diesel engine. The vehicle’s body was designed for lightness and durability, and it offered modularity for different military needs. The Perentie earned a legendary status due to its robust performance in numerous military operations. Post-military, many Perenties were sold to civilians and are cherished for their rugged off-road capabilities.

Rich Brown, CEO of Arksen Overland, describes the Perentie as a quintessential Land Rover. He emphasizes the extensive upgrades that make the Ituri both a practical daily driver and a highly capable off-road vehicle. Despite these modern enhancements, the vehicle retains its analog charm, providing a unique driving experience.

The restoration process for Project Ituri was comprehensive, involving a complete rebuild from the ground up. The vehicle has been reconfigured to enhance its adaptability for various adventures. Originally an FFR (fitted for radio) vehicle, the battery compartments have been converted into external storage lockers, and the rear load bed now features a swing gate for easier access. Additional storage behind the front seats adds convenience, while folding crew seats in the rear allow for extra gear or passenger capacity.

Externally, the Ituri strikes a balance between boldness and subtlety. It rides on 33-inch tires with black Wolf steel wheels and features fully adjustable suspension with a 2-inch lift. The Mercedes Mojave Silver metallic paint, complemented by black Arksen canvas and accessories, gives the vehicle a refined look while retaining the classic Defender style.

The interior of Project Ituri blends modern amenities with classic elements. It includes air conditioning, an upgraded heater, power steering, a rearview camera, and a touchscreen stereo with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The black diamond-stitched leather seats, Alcantara dashboard, central cubby, and comprehensive sound insulation ensure comfort during long drives. Original features like the 4-speed gearbox, sliding windows, and full-width lever-operated dash vents are retained, maintaining the vehicle’s authentic feel. The addition of a leather-wrapped classic Land Rover steering wheel and a revised clutch pedal geometry enhances the driving experience.

Under the hood, the Ituri is powered by a turbocharged Isuzu 4BD1 engine, delivering nearly 700 newton-meters of torque at the flywheel. This setup ensures excellent performance on challenging terrain and a smooth driving experience on regular roads. The vehicle’s reliability and capability are further enhanced by upgraded CV joints, differentials, clutch, axles, brakes, and a suspension lift. Additional features such as scrub bars, a steering guard, hood-mounted tools, and a Warn winch allow for pushing the vehicle’s limits.

Project Ituri also includes an integrated water tank, auxiliary power, and a custom-designed Arksen canvas, making it ideal for various outdoor activities. The canvas can be configured in multiple ways to suit different needs and weather conditions. Thanks to the ADF bolt-through canvas design and the underlying Roll Over Protection System (ROPS), the vehicle can be equipped with a roof rack, roof box, or roof tent.

Arksen offers Project Ituri for $109,000, excluding taxes.
