Who owns Caterpillar Diesel Engines?

I know Ford used Caterpillar Diesel Engines in some older Ford trucks and I was curious who owns Caterpiller and I was very surprised to find out that Caterpillar engines are copies of the Cummins motor and also a Cummins owned company.

Now who owns Cummins?  No one does, they own themselves.  Ram was the first company to come to Cummins and ask for them to make a diesel fo their trucks which produced the first light duty truck in 1989.  This is the same engine that was found in Case agricultural tractors.  The 6BT or more known as the Cummins "12-valve" (since it has 2 valves per cylinder) was the first member of the "B" engine family to be used in a light truck vehicle.
