Of the motorcycle companies that manufacture trials bikes, Montesa is certainly one of the most well known. Being owned by Honda helps, as does having 34-time motorcycle trials world champion Toni Bou campaigning its machinery at the highest levels of competition around the globe. Montesa’s three-model lineup of rock-hopping motorcycles have been released for the 2024 model year, consisting of the Cota 4RT 260R, Cota 4RT 301RR, and Cota 4RT 301RR Race Replica.

The trio are powered by fuel-injected liquid-cooled SOHC four-stroke single-cylinder engines, with the Cota 4RT 260R being a 259cc and the Cota 4RT 301RR and Cota 4RT 301RR Race Replica having a displacement of 298cc. They fire to life via kickstart and are equipped with five-speed gearboxes.

Helping Montesa riders hop around in sections is a Showa 39mm conventional fork and Showa shock with 6.6 and 6.7 inches of travel, respectively. Front suspension is adjustable for preload, compression damping, and rebound damping. Rear suspension is tunable for spring preload and rebound damping.

Frame, swingarm, and fuel tank are constructed of aluminum. For brakes, Montesa specs a four-piston front caliper and 185mm disc, and the rear is a dual-piston caliper that bites onto a 150mm disc. All three have 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, but tires differ on one of them. While the Cota 4RT 260R uses Dunlop D803GP rubber, the Cota 4RT 301RR and Cota 4RT 301RR Race Replica rely on Michelin Trial Competition X11 for traction.

As far as weight, Montesa says its trials motorcycles hit the scales at 170 pounds wet. All three models are available now and pricing is as follows:
