RUMORS, GOSSIP & UNFOUNDED TRUTHS: THREE WEEKS IN A ROW — PHILLY, DENVER & SALT LAKE

• RIDE ‘EM COWBOY: KEN ROCZEN’S EIGHT-SECOND RIDE

Photo one: When Ken landed hard over a double, his shock’s nitrogen valve blew open and the shock oil spewed out creating a smoke cloud. Ken bravely hung on to the bouncing yellow steed, trying to get as far back as possible to keep the rear from kicking as he entered the whoops.

Photo two. Once Ken was bucked out of the saddle he could see the writing on the wall.

Photo three.  The next whoop threw Ken up and over to the left side, which meant he would no longer land on the seat of his bike.

Photo four. Ken pulled his legs up into a tuck position, had a death grip on the bars and looked for a landing spot.

Photo five. With his bike rotated 180-degrees to vertical, Ken let go and tried to avoid getting injured.  He almost succeeded. Read more below

• KEN ROCZEN ON WHY HIS 2024 SUPERCROSS SERIES IS OVER

Ken summed it up with “Bye bye SX24”

After further evaluation it looks like I will be out for a little bit. It turns out I broke my tib plateau, my foot and my toe. No surgery is required as of right now but we are still gathering some information and further evaluation. That’s really all I have for now. Bye bye SX24 [sic]. You were pretty cool! My fans and partners, you guys make it super fun and it’s a joy coming to the races and get that support you guys give us.” Ken Roczen

MXA’s Jody Weisel (left) has designed over 20 AMA National tracks, 39 World Vet Championship tracks and all 15 World Two-Stroke tracks, along with working on the Saddleback National tracks in the late 1970s and early 1980s with Lance Moorewood. This is the official 2024 World Two-Stroke Championship T-shirt design.

Here is the original photo of Jody Weisel from the 1979 Honda CR125 test in MXA that the artist used for the T-shirt. It was shot at the Escape Country track 49 years ago. The 1979 CR125 was the one with the 23-inch front wheel and the Kiss helmet was just worn as a joke.
