It’s tiny. It’s red. It’s a bare-bones factory Jeep concept from the 2016 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, and it’s back.
No, they’re still not going to build it. But if you yell loud enough, maybe someone at Stellantis (aka Chrysler, aka Jeep) will listen. Or at least that’s…what we tell ourselves. When we’re not staring at the 70-year-old flat-fender Willys in the garage of UTV Driver Editor-in-Chief Zach Bowman and plotting to steal the thing when he’s not looking.
That Willys is small and excellent. Modern Jeeps are large and mostly good. We want a small modern Jeep. Imagine the possibilities, the sheer amount of rad on tap. If only they’d build one.

Meet the Jeep Shortcut. Or rather, meet the Jeep Shortcut again. As The Fast Lane Car reminds us, this cute little shoebox began life as a JK-chassis (2007–2018) Jeep Wrangler. It is 14 inches shorter in body, it has no spare tire, and its bumpers are dinky. It is close to the size of a Jeep CJ-5 (1954–1983), and it is only about a foot longer than a Suzuki Samurai. It was one of a handful of Jeep concept vehicles that Stellantis trotted out for the 2016 Easter Jeep Safari.
Why did Jeep haul this thing out again? Well, as the boys from The Fast Lane Car point out, Stellantis has a history of using EJS to tease future product. We hope this is a tease. Maybe it’s a tease? Please?

The video doesn’t tell us much about the Shortcut that we didn’t already know, but that’s not important. What matters is that we have reason to drool over the thing again. Drink it up.
