Understanding the different radio bands

Here is a list of the Radio Bands we’ll be discussing

  • CB: 26.965 to 27.405 MHz
  • FRS: 462 MHz and 467 MHz
  • GMRS: 462 MHz and 467 MHz

CB (11 meter) 4W max power

  • CH01: 26.965 MHz (Open to everyone)
  • CH02: 26.975 MHz (Open to everyone)
  • CH03: 26.985 MHz (Open to everyone)
  • CH04: 27.005 MHz (Open to everyone – often used by off-roading)
  • CH05: 27.015 MHz (Open to everyone)

  • CH09: 27.065 MHz (Emergency communications)

  • RPT18: 462.6250 (RX from repeater) – 467.6250 (TX to repeater) – 50W max power – 20kHz Bandwidth
  • RPT19: 462.6500 (RX from repeater) – 467.6500 (TX to repeater) – 50W max power – 20kHz Bandwidth

**NOTE for Repeaters: There is no set tone for all repeaters but many repeaters use 141.3 as the travelers tone. Repeaters may require you to assign a CTCSS tone or DCS code to the channel.
