Beau Baron had doubts about how his new hybrid Honda sport quad would perform at round 1 of the 2023 WORCS series, held at Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino in Primm, Nevada. He was still figuring out the bugs in the new build, leading right up until race time. “I’ve been scrambling really hard trying to build a new bike,” said Baron. The new hybrid Honda sport quad presented Baron with several challenges. “I’ve been coming up with roadblocks left and right,” claimed Baron. “The latest one is the stator doesn’t have enough power to run my radiator fan,” said Baron. He also had difficulty getting a fuel tank that would work with the CRF450R’s electronic fuel injection system. At the end of the day, Baron looked as if he hadn’t lost a step from 2022, winning the pro race with time to spare. The hybrid ran flawlessly, other than losing a main motor mount bolt late in the race. Baron would go on to win his 11th WORCS Pro ATV championship in 2023.

Fast forward to this weekend, and Baron is prepping this same machine for WORCS 2024 round 5 of 9  at Shorty’s Sports Park in Blythe, California. Once again, he’s leading the points series, with Travis Damon and his Yamaha YFZ450R trailing by a single point. And Braxton Grosse and his TRX450R will surely be a front runner, too. Grosse is racing GNCC Round 5 in Tennessee on Saturday and then flying to California to race WORCS on Sunday. Sunday’s Pro race is guaranteed to be exciting and even volatile with the mix of motocross, a difficult pro-only section, and high-speed canyons.

As the excitement builds, the pro race is set to kick off this Sunday at 2:35 p.m. PT. We at Dirt Wheels will be on the ground, ready to bring you the latest results and thrilling photos from the finish line. Stay tuned, and good luck to all racers this weekend!
