2024 DENVER SUPERCROSS PRE-RACE REPORT: INJURED LIST, TV SCHEDULE & MORE

Heading into the Denver Supercross for the continuation of the 2024 series, Jett Lawrence has been building momentum, securing wins in both Nashville and last weekend in Philadelphia, and now sits twelve points ahead of Cooper Webb. For Webb, securing a win has become a necessity as he is slowly slipping behind in the championship standings. In the 250 class, we return to West Coast racing where RJ Hampshire holds a two-point lead over Levi Kitchen. In Nashville, Kitchen had a crash involving his teammate Cameron McAdoo, leaving him battered and bruised. RJ Hampshire needs to capitalize on his recent success to keep Levi Kitchen from regaining the lead in Denver.

2024 DENVER SUPERCROSS // FULL COVERAGE

HAMPSHIRE AND KITCHEN BATTLE

Levi Kitchen was on a winning streak as they entered the East/West showdown in Nashville, but it did not go in his favor. When Kitchen was left lying on the ground, RJ Hampshire capitalized and grabbed the win that night, earning a full twenty-six points. Levi Kitchen did finish the event in fourteenth place, but it was too far behind for him to maintain the points lead. Now, with only two races left and the finale being another East/West showdown, Kitchen needs to put all his effort on the track to regain the lead.

JETT LAWRENCE’S MOMENTUM

Jett Lawrence has begun to pull away in the points race with only two races left on the schedule. He had been performing well all season, but some mid-season mishaps and crashes allowed Cooper Webb to catch up and tie the points. More recently, however, Jett Lawrence has regained his momentum and managed to win the past two weekends, while Webb settled for fourth place. Now, as we head into the finals, Cooper Webb needs to do all he can to beat Jett Lawrence, who just needs to stay consistent.

INJURED LIST:

AARON PLESSINGER – ELBOW

Aaron Plessinger had a scary crash when getting cross-rutted on the landing of a triple in Foxborough. Aaron attempted to ride the qualifying sessions but ultimately pulled off due to the severity of pain in his elbow. He confirmed this week that he did end up breaking his elbow and will be out for the rest of the Supercross season. 

AUSTIN FORKNER – BACK & SHOULDER

Austin had one of the scarier crashes we’ve seen in a while when he came up short entering a rhythm section which knocked his hand off the bars and sent him flying onto the infield concrete. As a result, he fractured his L3-L4 in his spine as well as a fractured scapula. Fortunately, his injuries did not require surgery, and he is expected to make a full recovery. We are unsure of his expected return, but it will not be for the rest of the Supercross season.

ENZO LOPES – FOREARM

Enzo Lopes underwent “Arm Pump” surgery on his forearms, which is claimed to help improve blood flow to the arms. This type of surgery usually takes a few weeks to recover from, but in Enzo’s case, it has been lingering over the last couple of months.

Enzo Lopes said, “Riding for Star Racing comes with a lot of expectations, especially after my momentum from last season. Unfortunately, the cards we were dealt with this off-season were out of our control, and with that, we agreed on missing some rounds so I could be back at 100% soon. I am super bummed, but I know in the long run this will be the best decision for me and also the team.”

Christian Craig posted on Instagram that he had been riding with elbow pain throughout the majority of the season. He said that this pain has been progressively increasing. He will be getting some tests done and there is no date announced for his return. Christian said, “I’ve been dealing with elbow pain that’s progressively getting worse since the season started. I’ve tried to push through it but unfortunately, it’s to the point where I can’t hang on after a few laps.”

Evan Ferry had a crash during press day for the Arlington Supercross causing an injury to his shoulder. Then, he decided to part ways with the Triumph racing team. He is now looking to find a team to race outdoors with.
