MIDAMERICA OUTDOORS MEMORIAL DAY MAYHEM MAY 24TH-27TH

There have been rumors about MidAmerica Outdoors being bought by the Cherokee Nation, but the rumors aren’t true. Dirt Wheels spoke with MAO UTV short-course race director JT Taylor, and he said that the Cherokees came to MAO but did not buy the property, and that the Heartland Racing Association is set to promote the first UTV short-course round in next month’s Memorial Day Mayhem. MAO has had Open Ride weekends every weekend in April, including this weekend, so racers can get tuned up for the May 24th-27th opening round.

As the name implies, MidAmerica Outdoors in northeast Oklahoma is the Heartland’s premiere OHV park, and, this June 12th through 16th, MAO puts on its biggest and best festival of speed and thrills during Visions Off-Road. The five-day Visions is the second round of MAO’s $750,000 UTV Short-course 2024 racing series, drawing America’s fastest and most-skilled UTV racers and stars of the future from all over the country. When not riding wooded trails on 1,600 acres, spectators are treated to non-stop action of Pro Rodeo, Nitro Circus and monster truck thrill shows, short-course truck racing, rock racing, endurance/mud racing, live music, a UTV parade, Barbie Jeep racing, pit-bike racing, and an R/C car race with a $5,000 purse. The 2023 Visions also had Nitrocross racing. There are also sand drags and rock-bouncing hill climbs. MAO has open dry camping with shower buildings, RV hook-ups, and multiple cabin options with more being built daily. Visions also has plenty of family-fun events like corn hole competitions, mud bogs, and tug-o-war. Or cool off in the large pool, tubing loop, and splash pad, next door to the food court and patio. MAO is a Polaris Outfitter, so you can rent RZRs and outfit your ride in the Pro Shop. MAO has restaurants and pubs; think of it as OHV Wallyworld meets Bass Pro Shop, and their 2024 schedule boasts a dozen festivals and new events like the first MAO motorcycle rally.

MIDAMERICA OUTDOORS 2024 $750,000 UTV RACE SERIES

America’s most lucrative UTV racing series, the MidAmerica Outdoors crew upped the Pro purse to $750,000 for 2024’s five-round short-course series. Each round will have a $100,000 payout, and series champions will split $250,000. MAO is a premiere facility with a Pro Shop, restaurants, RZR rentals, cabins, swimming pool and tubing course, pit-bike and RC tracks, sound stages, sand drags, a VIP area, food trucks, pubs, RV hookups, and primitive camping in Jay, Oklahoma. The course is laid out in a big valley with lots of hills and jumps, and the MAO crew are constantly adding features and cabins. They’re also building a second short-course track and drag strip. Cody Miller is defending Pro Turbo champion, and Owen VanEpren is Pro NA 1000 champion.
