MXGP CHAMPIONSHIP CHANGES VENUES FOR THE FINAL GP OF THE YEAR & ADDS A SURPRISE FOR 2025

First off, the final round of the 2024 MXGP race schedule has been moved from Italy to Spain. What’s most interesting is that until this venue change was announced, Italy had three dates on the 2024 MXGP schedule, now they only have two, but Spain now has three (Intu Xanadu, Lugo and now Cozar). The date of the latest Spanish GP is September 29, 2024.

A QUARTER CENTURY LATER: MXGP RETURNS OF AUSTRALIA

After a 24-year absence, the FIM Motocross World Championship will return to Australia in 2025. The last Australian Grand Prix was held at Broadford back in 2001. Last week, MXGP announced that Australia had signed a five year contract to host an MXGP through 2029. The 2025 Australian MXGP will be held at the Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex, which is 6 miles from Darwin in the Northern Territory, Australia. The Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex includes a drag strip, a (440 yard) Speedway track, several motocross tracks and karting circuit. Hidden Valley Raceway holds an annual round of the International V8 Supercars Championship.

The Australian-exclusive deal, includes Motorcycling Australia and NTMEC as key partners, will see the MXGP round held in Darwin in September 2025 until 2029, with an option to extend the collaboration beyond the initial five-year term.
