Dark Light

The Mercedes Sprinter is an automotive icon and has become one of the most desirable platforms for vanlifers and overlanders alike. The model’s popularity is no coincidence, but instead a reflection of its long standing reputation for excellence, with all iterations capable of half-a-million mile service lives. The first generation Sprinter hit the European market in 1995 following the success of the legendary T1, which had been produced in almost a million units over its 18 years of service. These were big shoes to fill, but the Sprinter lived up to its predecessor and bettered it in almost every regard. This year, it will celebrate 30 years of service and a considerable 5 million units sold worldwide. The combination of bulletproof motors, impressive performance and economy, generous payload, well equipped interiors, and the support of Mercedes fabled global parts and service network (built on 3 continents: North America, South America, and Europe), makes the Sprinter an ideal choice for overland travel. With this in mind, cue today’s low mileage 2014 Mercedes Sprinter 170 Cab Chassis (30,000 miles); which incorporates a plethora of top tier upgrades and is topped with an exceptionally well appointed OEV (Overland Explorer Vehicles) composite cabin. At $135,000 this is a premium vehicle but a relative bargain when you consider the cost involved to recreate (with 1,100 hours of skilled labor invested alone), and that a comparable Winnebago has a starting price of $200,000. Today’s one-of-a-kind build may not be AWD, but it’s more than capable when the going gets rough, thanks to a Van Compass 3 inch suspension lift, Agile Off Road RIP System, and Toyo all terrain tires. The Sprinter enjoys almost unparalled aftermarket support so if you desire even more backcountry performance you can choose from a huge catalog of products/services; including rear lockers, armor, winches, and even 4WD/AWD conversions. If you’re in the market for a legitimate tried-and-tested four season rolling home for the upcoming season then look no further.

From the Seller:

The OEV Sprinter is in very good condition and has been moderately used over the past 6 years. It has served us well for adventuring throughout the southwest and a couple of longer cross-country trips. We’ve had many great trips with the Sprinter, whether it has been traveling across the US to Bentonville, Arkansas, to ride the MTB trails, or staying in Arizona and traveling north to the Williams or Flagstaff area for a quick weekend getaway in the forest. We have driven to the beaches of southern California where we were able to take advantage of the small foot print and easily found camping sites. We have also traveled to Silverton and Ouray, Colorado, where we camped near the river in Silverton and were able to venture out and explore the mountain passes in our SxS. The Sprinter comfortably travels with 2 persons and 2 dogs. The van has easy manoeuvrability and accessibility, which provides the possibility to park in a standard size parking space if necessary. This Sprinter 3500 chassis was purchased new in April 2016. The full camper conversion was performed by Lite Industries (Overland Explorer Vehicles) totaling 1,100 hours, and was completed in late 2017. The build quality is exceptional. If it wasn’t for trying to downsize to one vehicle and wanting a full-size diesel pickup for payload and towing, we would not be selling. We love its quality, capabilities, simplicity, and space. We were originally going to build out a traditional Sprinter van but when we came across this OEV build, we fell in love. Having full standing height, plenty of inside and outside storage, true 4 season comfort, generous kitchen and living space, as well as a dry bath setup with separate toilet and shower space is ideal. This rig does everything we could ask for.”
