QUESTION ON ARGO BUYING ARCTIC CAT

A DIRT WHEELS FAN WRITES: “I have a question about the sale of Arctic Cat to Argo and what it means for the future of AC and purchasing new machines in the future. Will Argo do what Textron did to AC? Or will they be left alone to continue as before? These answers will decide how myself and many others proceed in the future with purchases or even spare parts.” – Shane Jackson, Greenville, SC

OUR PRO ANSWER: I think you are a little misinformed about the sale of Arctic Cat from Textron. Argo did not purchase AC. The old vice president of AC, who is now the president of Argo, along with an investment group, decided to purchase AC from Textron. The impetus of this decision was the impending layoff by Textron of 385 workers and to cease production at the Thief River Falls, Minnesota, plant after production of the 2025 model year snowmobile lineup was finished. The plan as I have been informed is to continue AC as before and to keep it a separate company from Argo. Although there may well be some technology transfers between the two entities in the future. So, unless new information comes out, I would not worry about the future of AC because the new owners appear to have a plan to keep Arctic Cat producing new 4-wheelers, UTVs and snowmobiles in the future.
