Eli Tomac To Race 2024 AMA Pro Motocross and SuperMotocross

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has declared that Eli Tomac will line up for the upcoming 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship and three playoff rounds of the 2024 SuperMotocross (SMX) World Championship.

“We can officially announce that we are in for the full SMX season,” Tomac said. “It really came down to wanting to continue what we have going on. I’ve been feeling great on the motorcycle. We’re getting into our groove, and I feel like we’re going to be really strong in Pro Motocross and the SMX series. I’m excited to keep racing!”

The Colorado native has enjoyed success in the 2024 AMA Supercross season with a victory and five runner-up finishes in 15 rounds to stand in third place thus far, and looks to carry that momentum into outdoors as well as the three playoff races of SMX. In addition to two AMA Supercross 450SX titles, Tomac has four Pro Motocross 450MX Championships to his credit, and wants to add a fifth to his résumé as well as a 450SMX No. 1 plate.

“We’re happy to have Eli race the entire SMX World Championship and make another title run in Pro Motocross,” Yamaha racing department manager Jim Roach said. “It’s not only great for Yamaha and the team to see Eli continue racing, but also for the sport. The racing has been better than ever in supercross, and we look forward to the upcoming outdoor season and SMX series.”

Tomac suffered an Achilles injury in his home state AMA Supercross race last year, which prevented him from competing in the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship and inaugural SMX World Championship, so this year will mark his first outdoor race since 2022 and first time competing in the SMX playoffs.

“We’re excited to have Eli on board for the whole SMX season,” Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 team manager Jeremy Coker said. “It’s been a great year so far with his return to racing after last year’s injury, and we’re looking to build on our momentum going into the outdoor season. We’re looking to bring the No. 1 plate back.”
