Ken Roczen To Miss Remainder of 2024 AMA Supercross Series

Suzuki Motor USA has announced that Ken Roczen will miss the final three rounds of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship due to injuries sustained at round 14 inside Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. While battling for the lead during the main event, the Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki rider’s shock malfunctioned, causing the rear of the bike to pogo uncontrollably.

A shock failure had Ken Roczen going for a wild ride in the whoops at the Nashville Supercross this past weekend. Injuries sustained in the crash have ended his 2024 AMA Supercross campaign. (Suzuki/)

Despite the mechanical failure just before entering the whoops, Roczen maintained control of his RM-Z450 until near the end of the section before it threw him over the handlebar. The German rider was unable to finish the feature and, upon visiting medical professionals, found he suffered a few injuries in the crash.

“After further evaluation, it looks like I will be out for a little bit,” Roczen said. “It turns out I broke my tibial plateau, foot, and toe. No surgery is required as of right now, but we are still gathering some information. That’s really all I have for now. Bye-bye, supercross 2024; you were pretty cool! To my fans and partners, you guys make it super fun, and it’s a joy coming to the races and getting that support you guys give us.”

Prior to his 2024 AMA Supercross season-ending injury, Roczen enjoyed plenty of success including a main event victory at round 6 held inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and earned six podium finishes in the 14 rounds he lined up for and was sixth in the point standings. Suzuki joins HEP Motorsports in wishing Roczen and his family a complete and speedy recovery, and anticipates his return later in 2024.
